DeyArmin Going Away Party

Our wonderful friends, the DeyArmins, are headed out on the mission field with Village Missions. They are going to lead a small, country church that has a congregation that is dwindling. As Drea is one of my closest friends, she is going to be missed dearly. We let her go because it's obvious that God has for her at this time. I helped co-host a going away party for her and her family.

Valentine's Day...another reason to celebrate. I like to host parties for the kids and buy some Oriental Trading crafts to do. This has become a fun tradition for different holidays.

Rachel's Baby Shower

My friends, Rachel & Ty, are adopting a beautiful little girl from Ethiopia. We're anticipating the call any day that they can go pick her up. We wanted to celebrate her joining her forever family by giving Rachel a Shabby Chic Baby Shower...right up her alley. It was a great celebration.

Snow Day 2012

I love it when our area gets snow. Other adults complain. Not me. I like the calm that takes over the world. I love how things slow down. I love the beauty of the white falling from the sky. I love the fun. So, I embraced the white stuff with my kids. With the big dump of snow, we made the biggest snowman I've ever made. We also got the sled out and went down the little hill in our back yard. All the kids enjoyed it. Nothing beats afterward when you go inside for hot chocolate and popcorn. Have I mentioned I love the snow?

Pacific Science Center

My wonderful parents have season passes to the Pacific Science Center. They were headed there with Lucy & Will (niece and nephew), so we decided to tag along.

Olympia Children's Museum

We spent an morning at the Children's Museum in Olympia. It was a great place with so many things to do and places to explore - from cars, to trains, to grocery areas, to water tables, to art studios...on and on. The kids loved it.

Sledding Day

We had a fabulous time taking the kids up to the mountain with my sister and her family. They had a blast...until the very end. I don't blame them. We got to the car with Abby and Corban, took of their mittens and shoes, and they were soaked, and I'm sure freezing to the bone. I was amazed they lasted as long as they did.

Meaningful Mama Launch

2012 marked a new en-devour for me. My husband's uncle, Lincoln, said a while back that I should start a blog. I said, "No way. No interest." Two days before the first of January I "randomly" decided to launch Meaningful Mama. This marked a new adventure in my life. It's a parenting blog where every day you'll find a craft or activity, a character development idea and a parenting tip. It's been a crazy journey thus far. It is basically my 365 to be more intentional in my parenting.

This year I was able to host Christmas Eve. We had a lot of fun. It was the Kerns, Durrs, Andersons, Pruitts and Ross' Mom. We had our normal white elephant exchange. The kids were able to get their Christmas pajamas and a few other special treats...google glasses was one of them.

Military Wives Progressive Dinner

I hosted a military wives dinner to honor the women who are serving us in such a sacrificial way. I made a triple chocolate mousse cake, gave a snowflake ornament at each plate as well as a poem about what it means to be a military wife. It was a great opportunity to get to know some ladies in our church.

Snowflake Lane

Snowflake Lane in Bellevue has become a bit of a tradition for us. It really is magical. I'm an adult, and when the snow falls from the sky, I feel like a kid again. We went up once with our immediate family to spend time with my mom and dad and do this fun activity. My kids were able to do it again with the addition of their cousins, aunt and uncle on another day. Love it!

Thanksgiving at Cannon Beach

Jeremy's parents rented a house right on the ocean in Cannon Beach for the Thanksgiving weekend. We had a fabulous trip. The weather cooperated perfectly - being very stormy when we wanted to be inside and clearing up right when we'd want to be outside. Thanksgiving dinner was, thanks to Lori, amazing. She brought everything to make all of the fixings. After the meal, the storm clouds rolled away and we were able to spend some time on the beach chasing the waves and flying kites. We had a nice morning where we were able to go into town to go through the shops, visit the candy store (a child's dream...well, mine too) and enjoy the delicious pizza in town. The rest of the weekend was filled with games, movies, hanging out and a trip to the Tillimook factory for cheese tasters, lunch and ice cream. IT was so fun to hunker down and just be together.

The Party for the One Year Old

To celebrate our little man's first birthday, we invited the family over for our "Frogs, Snails and Puppy Dog Tails" party. It was a fun celebration, and as I looked around the room, I felt blessed that he is surrounded by such wonderful men who can influence him. We generally plant a tree at the first birthday, but the ground was frozen, so we are going to have to wait to do that until the spring.

Thanksgiving Craft Day

I hosted a Thanksgiving craft day where the kids were able to make a turkey craft and a THANKSgiving tree. We also had snacks and the kids watched Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. A bit of madness but a lot of fun.

"Drive Thru Latte Shop"

So much of the girls' play involves make believe. Playing doctor, giving each other "haircuts", hosting birthday parties are a few of their favorites. Recently, they developed their own drive thru coffee shop at their bunk bed latter. Very clever and definitely mimicking real life.
