Another One...

I'm pregnant! We announced on Easter with an egg with a little wind up chick inside that had a sign around his neck saying, "We're adding another chicken to the Durr coop." Everyone was surprised. Actually, when we found out, we were surprised. It's a bit surreal right now, but we're excited. The baby is due Novemeber 15th, which makes me a couple months along right now. I'm feeling OK...a little stomach uneasiness, but not a lot to complain about. I have been very tired.

James and Amber's Wedding in Puerto Vallarta

Our friends, Amber and James, just had an amazing wedding in Puerto Vallarta. It was a fabulous trip for us. We arrived, and they had "messed up" our rooms. Rather than sharing with the group, we had our own individual room. Because of this, they decided to give us all inclusive, which was amazing! We got all the food, drinks, etc. I also got some free spa services and other ammenities. We had wedding stuff to do, but we also get a lot of laid back time to sun on the beach, swim in the ocean or pool, dine, walk to town, read and relax. The group went on a Zip Line adventure. Jer said it was awesome, but I couldn't do it because of my pregnancy. They took a boat over to a secluded area outside of P.V. Then they took a 4x4 vehicle up the mountain a bit until they got on mules to head the rest of the way up. The path down was a combination of zip lines and belaying down waterfalls, etc. I'll post pictures soon. The day of the wedding was spent at Las Calletas, a more private beach about an hour away from P.V. It was beautiful here, and even though the day brought a couple boats of tourists, we easily found a hammock or bed out of the way. I did yoga on a cliff over the ocean in the morning. The rest of the day was relaxing, reading and then getting ready for the wedding. Jeremy got ordained and was the pastor. The highlight, which we caught in the picture, is when he accidently called the groom "Jesus." Jer did a great job. I read scripture. All our girlfriends, as per tradition, did a dance at the reception. We chose "All the Single Ladies." The wedding and reception had a lot of little surprises including choerographed dances, a high tide so that waves were crashing into the dance floor and fire dancers. Amber called it all "epic." I think she's right.

Kenzie's First Birthday

After her dedication, we did a family party for Kenzie's first birthday. As you can see, we are surrounded by a lot of family, which is a huge blessing. Kenzie was fairly dainty with the cake. She never dug in too much. Food was Mexican. As tradition in our family, we planted a tree for Kenzie. We chose a Stellata Magnolia.
Kenzie is a fabulous baby. She definately knows what she wants and can easily communicate that. She is a pretty easy baby getting a bit needy in the afternoon, but I know I have nothing to complain about. She is talking more now with her own version of bye, hi, ball, backpack, hot, mama, dada, thank you and more. She can do some sign language (more, all done, please). She is a pickier eater - loving fruit but not willing to try a lot. We're just finishing up on the formula and will be moving to a combination of rice and whole milk. She's starting to want to walk everywhere, although crawling still in the easiest and fastest way to get around. She can go up and down the stairs with ease, but I still want to follow close behind. She knows how to clap, kiss, high five and wave on command, but she likes to do it on her own terms. Abigail, tickles and surprises always make her laugh. She likes babies, books and balls. She is very adaptable and a good sleeper. Her first year has flown by, and we just adore her.

Kenzie's Dedication

Kenzie decided to ham it up at her dedication. Because her name means "fair one" (refering to beauty), the verse we chose for her is, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." She had been trying to get the mic the whole time Jer was talking and when he got to the "gentle and quiet spirit" part, she let out a nice yell. Everyone laughed. She errupted in clapping when everyone else clapped. Lord, take our child and make her yours!

Walks

With the warmer weather, we've been outdoors more (because I'm one of those lame moms who doesn't bundle up and go out in just any weather). This was a walk our family went on at Woghop Lake in Fort Steilacoom Park.

Noah's 16th Birthday

A tradition in the Durr family is that at the 16th birthday all the men gather to celebrate this coming of age as well as give words of wisdom for life and the future.
